Leonard Davis Obituary

Leonard M. Davis
The afterlife has been blessed with a legend. Leonard M. Davis, 67, passed on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at his home in Norwalk. He was born November 23, 1955 in Montgomery County, PA, to the late John and Arthalia (Ridgeway) Davis. He was a devoted son, a loving father, and a loyal friend.
A creative, talented, and beloved man who excelled in painting, sculpture, music and leadership. He was awarded an art scholarship to Northwestern CT Community College. Leonard found the most joy while jamming on his guitar with his friends to the likes of Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Joni Mitchell and The Grateful Dead. He relished in his former job as a cameraman for cable news television where one of his favorite assignments was hanging out of a helicopter capturing the morning traffic. Leonard recently retired from his well-respected career of over 30-years at the State of CT, Department of Developmental Services as a passionate residential supervisor who loved mentoring his staff and was a dedicated care giver to his residents.
He was a proud and long-term resident of Norwalk and Fairfield. An avid swimmer, lover of nature, super fan of science fiction, Stephen King novels and lobster. He was moved by museums and shared his adoration of music with all. Famous for his camp side storytelling and chocolate chip pancakes, Leonard was a natural performer, dancer, and entertainer.
He is survived by his daughter Maggie Daucsavage, her husband Peter and baby daughter Maya, son Michael Davis, mother of his children Marguerite Davis, his companion Liz Van Doren best friend Mark Busch, and all of those who affectionately referred to him as "Papa Len".
Leonard will always be remembered for his humor, generosity, and ability to make friends wherever he went. He will be forever missed but well taken care of on the great Starship Enterprise in the sky. Beam him up, Scotty!
A celebration of life will be held October 15th at Cranbury Park, in Norwalk. For questions and updates email [email protected]
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to International Fund for Animal Welfare, one of Leonard's favorite charities.

Though we both worked in media I knew Leonard first and foremost as a care giver and apartment supervisor to people with disabilities at Lower Fairfield Center in Norwalk. His compassion and gentle manner were a blessing. Rest in peace my friend.
