Luigi Scala Obituary

Luigi Di Scala
Luigi Di Scala, 95, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Monday, June 10, 2024.
Luigi was born on October 27, 1928, to the late Nicola and Teresa Di Scala in Barano d'Ischia, Italy, the eldest of eight children. After Luigi immigrated to the United States in 1951, he went on to become a Mason by trade.
In the 1970s, Luigi acquired the AM Santella Co., continuing to remodel and construct homes and commercial properties throughout the Norwalk area. Retiring at the age of 62, he spent his days travelling between Argentina, Italy, and Florida, to enjoy his time with his extensive family.
Luigi was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Fanny (Philomena DiMeglio) of Norwalk, and his second wife of 18 years, Maria Esther Marcon of Argentina. He was also predeceased by siblings: Pupeta, Miguel, Arcangelo, and Francisco Di Scala of Argentina. He is survived by his siblings: Alba, Giorgio, Pierino, and Carmela of Argentina.
He is also survived by his three children: Teresa Di Napoli, Victoria Di Scala, and Nicola (Jacqueline) Di Scala; six grandchildren: Joy and Nick (Susanna) Boccuzzi, Gennaro and Victoria Di Napoli, and Nicola, Jr. and Austin Di Scala; and five great-grandchildren: Sofia, Lorenzo, Giuseppe, Viviana, and Jose Julian.
Luigi will be sorely missed as the patriarch of this family. He will always be remembered for his limitless generosity, outstanding Sunday dinners, storytelling, knowledgeable advice, and for the best grandpa hugs and kisses ever.
Calling hours for Luigi will take place at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Avenue, in Stamford, on the morning of Friday, June 14th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Following the visitation, a funeral procession will leave the parlor for a graveside committal service, to begin at 12:30 p.m., at St. John R.C. Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, in Norwalk, CT. Entombment will immediately follow the service.
