Matthew Ciccarello Obituary

Matthew L. Ciccarello

Matthew L. Ciccarello, 43, died suddenly on Monday, May 7, 2012. He was born in Norwalk on May 11, 1968.
His greatest joy in life was his sons, Luke and Grant. They spent as much time together as possible. They all participated in ice skating, biking, tennis, ice hockey, fishing, swimming, and even planting their garden, every year from seedlings.
Matthew touched the lives of many friends with his smile, generosity, enthusiasm, energy and wonderful sense of humor.
He will be sorely missed by his sons, Luke and Grant, and by his father Louis Ciccarello, his mother, Marilyn Robinson, and his sister Lynne Ciccarello, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Matthew graduated from Norwalk High in 1986 and from Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire in 1990.
A memorial service will be held at 10am on Friday, May 11th at St. Matthew's Church in Norwalk, followed by burial at St. John's Cemetery. A celebration of his life will follow at Norwalk Motor Inn immediately following the burial.
Contributions in Matthew's name can be made to Ciccarello scholarship: c/o M. Robinson, 21 Linden Street, Unit 5, Norwalk, CT, 06851.

Dear Ciccarello Family,

I had the great pleasure of attending Franklin Pierce College with Matt some years ago. My most abiding memory, a year on from Matt's passing, is the great warmth of character which he brought to sporting, and social conversations at campus level. Never pressing in his style and always good humored & spirited by nature. My friends at that time knew him on a much deeper level than me, but I too always liked him very much and will continue to recall with a great sense of fondness his contribution to campus life in Rindge, New Hampshire 1990.

Dear Ciccarello Family. Matt was a respected member of the NYC information security community. He was an amazing person and family man, intelligent and successful salesman and no one met him that didn't fall in love with him. We are deeply sorry for your loss.

May 19, 2012

I will remember Matthew furiously sledding down the big hill at Helen Keller with his boys in tow and all the kids screaming with joy. Whizzing around on roller blades at the ECC skate night with all the kids trying to catch him as if he were the Pied Piper. Always a smile, always laughing and kidding around. Will miss the exciting facebook posts about catching the latest big fish or the last vacation photos. Rest in PEACE, friend, Easton misses you.

Lou, there are no words of comfort to say other than to keep the faith. Life is fleeting and a mystery. From a parent who has been there my solace comes from loosing the anger and only remembering the good. The hugs & Kiss's and the I love you son, and the I love you Dad's. Remember the smile on his face and the legacy thru his children which you can also remember him thru. I feel your pain.

Matt,
I will always envision you and Glenn walking into our condo(@FPC) with you wearing your polo jean jacket and your driving moccasin/shoes (we used to crack up that you called them that!) along with your perma-grin smile (like the cat that ate the canary). Krissy and I were reminiscing about the old FPC hockey bash and the little puppy “Cali” that you adopted when we were at school...we cannot forget the “Underground” with You, Glenn and Mark! I could go on and on - so many memories, so many laughs…your presence was addicting as you brought happiness wherever you appeared. I know that our FPC friends will agree with me when I say that you were a great friend to all of us. Although years and distance separated us all at times – your notorious, one-liner emails would bring us right back to where we were. I am so sad that your physical presence has left but I find comfort in knowing that your extremely strong spirit lives on. I know that you will keep a close and watchful eye over your boys.
Give Glenn a big bear hug for me.
I love you both!
-Gina

Dear Ciccarello Family:
Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. I met Matt this past year when he graciously volunteered as an instructor/coach in his sons' youth hockey league. In that role he continually demonstrated the qualities that others have noted characterized his life generally: steadfast commitment, infectious enthusiasm and great knowledge and expertise which he delighted in sharing with his sons and their teammates. He will be missed terribly.

Farewell my friend you're leaving
It's time for you to go
Your friendship was a blessing
And I will miss you so
We Shared so many secrets
You brightened up my days
You brought me so much happiness
With your kind and loving ways
You lifted up my spirits
When I was feeling blue
No matter what was happening
You knew just what to do
Through all the ups and downs of life
The good times and the sad
From college days to "Golden" years
The best friend I ever had
God is here to take you home
Now you and I must part
I love you and forever
You will live within my heart.
