Maureen Fortune Obituary
June 5, 1943 to April 18, 2018Maureen Patricia Fortune, age 74, wife of Douglas Fortune, passed away peacefully at Waveny/The Village in New Canaan, CT with her loving family by her side.
Maureen was born June 5, 1943 in Norwalk, CT. She was the daughter of the late Edward E. O'Brien and Viola F. O'Brien.
In addition to her husband, Maureen is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Keiser and her husband Tim Keiser of Danbury, CT, her son Gerald Scott Scofield Jr. of Canton, OH, her step daughter Kerri Sherry and her husband Shannon Sherry of Fairfield, CT and her stepson Matthew Fortune and wife Mary Fortune of Stamford, CT. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Hannah and Kevin Keiser, Sadie Scofield, McKenna Sherry and Kaydence and Lennon Fortune, as well as one great grandchild, Sofia Voorhis, and her brother Thomas K. O'Brien and family of Norwalk, CT. Maureen was predeceased by her brother Edward E. O'Brien.
Maureen graduated in 1961 from Sacred Heart Academy in Stamford, CT and continued her education at Katherine Gibbs School.
You could always catch Maureen outside working on her gardens or in a comfy chair where the sun hit, reading a book. Maureen also enjoyed traveling the world with her husband.
Her family would like to thank the loving, kind, and compassionate care given to Maureen at The Village at Waveny and the staff at Masonicare Home Health and Hospice.
Calling hours will be on Sunday April 22, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road Darien, CT 06820. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday April 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St Johns RC Church, 1986 Post Road in Darien. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Waveny LifeCare Network, Development Office, 3 Farm Road, New Canaan, CT 06840-6698.
