Nancy J. Mancusi Denman, 54, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017. Nancy was born November 6, 1963, in Stamford, CT. She graduated from Wilton High School and cum laude from Fairfield University. In addition to working alongside her father for many years in the family business, she also poured her heart into a career helping children through A Better Chance house in Wilton and Wolfpit Elementary Schools, where she got so much joy from making every child she could feel special, particularly many "aha!" moments with math.
While her life would seem too short to many, those who were touched by Nancy understood that she lived every moment of every day to the fullest. Her children's biggest fan, she never missed an event with camera in hand, be it a baseball game, a Norwalk Marching Bears competition, a concert or parade. Beaming with the joy of being a grandmother for the first time, she looked forward to having those magical moments with her grandson, Charlie. An avid baker, her cakes and brownies were famous across the country! She always prioritized quality time with the people she loved, and creating memories through travel and new experiences. When she did find a moment for herself, you could find her on the beach with a good book.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Peter J. Denman; daughter, Jennifer Mancusi (Justin) Vogel; son, Peter J. Denman; grandson, Charlie Vogel; her parents, Joseph C. and Susan R. Mancusi; siblings, Alison Mancusi, Joseph C. (Clover) Mancusi, Annette Denman (Alfonso) Amaturo. She was preceded in death by her sister Dana E. Mancusi. She had an extensive extended family including two nieces, three nephews, numerous Godchildren, cousins, and a family of lifelong friends. She also leaves behind her beloved lab Redford.
Calling hours will be held from 4 - 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, at Magner Funeral Home in Norwalk. A Mass to celebrate her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Sat., Jan. 6, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 23 Half Mile Rd., Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery.
