Neil G. Farans

Neil G. Farans, 77, of Westport, passed away on Wednesday evening, February 17, 2016 in the comfort of his home. Born February 21, 1938 in Norwalk, CT, he was the son of the late William and Mildred Gans Farans. Born in Norwalk, Neil attended Norwalk High School, and graduated from the University of Florida, before joining the Air Force Reserves where he was called in to active duty for the Bay of Pigs. He then returned home to join the family business, Pennsylvania Petroleum Company (Pepco), for nearly 30 years, before founding Eastern Environmental Technologies, a waste management disposal company. He was a past President of the Norwalk Exchange Club, and an active member within the community. Neil was an avid boater, loved gardening, his family, his dogs, and will be forever missed. Neil is survived by his wife Laura, and his son Brad and his wife Michele of Vail, Colorado. He is also survived by his brother Alvin Farans of Westport, and nieces Danielle Finke and Claudia Morse, and nephews Guy, Steven and Bruce Green. He was predeceased by his son Greg, his brother Paul and his sister Diane. Services will be held at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk on Monday, February 22nd at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow IHS/Temple Shalom Cemetery, 143 Richards Avenue, Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County (visitingnurse.net), and the National Brain Tumor Society (braintumor.org)
