Anton Kvetensky Obituary

"Tony" Anton J. Kvetensky, 84, of Grand Island, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, with his family at his side.
Service and celebration of Anton's life will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home with military honors provided by the U.S. Army and Grand Island Veterans Honor Guard. Daniel Naranjo will officiate.
There will be a visitation 4-6 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service.
Tony was born Nov. 17, 1937, at Ord, the son of Ladislav and Martha (Janicek) Kvetensky. He was raised on a farm, graduating from Ord High School with the class of 1954.
On June 29, 1957, he was united in marriage to Mary Morrow. This union was blessed with children Steven and Sonya. Tony served in the U.S. Army from Aug. 1, 1961, to Aug. 30, 1963.
Tony worked for Baxter's Feed Lot before beginning his career with Northwestern Public Service. He retired following 27 years of service.
He was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Proud of his Czech heritage, Tony, his siblings and a sister-in-law traveled to Czechoslovakia in the 1970s and found their father's home. Tony always planned a summer family trip to the places such as Michigan, Colorado, California and to where he was stationed while in the service, New Mexico. Summers were also spent with friends camping across Nebraska. In past years, he and Mary were members of several bowling leagues, and enjoyed polka dancing. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed playing horseshoes, and attending the horse races, at both Ak-Sar-Ben and Fonner. Most of his spare time was spent playing cards.
Those who cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Mary; children and their spouses, Steven and Tabitha Kvetensky of Pasadena, Texas, and Sonya and Mike Wooden of Grand Island; three grandchildren, Karla, Tyler and Blakeley; several nieces and nephews; and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Marie Ann; brothers, Laddie and Joseph and sister, Martha Fryzek.
Memorials are suggested to Nebraska Children's Home Society.
