Audrey Royle Obituary

MASON CITY, Audrey Royle, 88, of Mason City died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at Gibbon Good Samaritan Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Mason City. The Rev. John Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in the Mason City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with the family present.

Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Royle was born July 7, 1919, in Pleasanton to Walter and Olive (Asher) Phillips.

Survivors of the immediate family include sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Isla Royle of Amherst, Rodney and Marilyn Royle of Shelton, Danny and Susan Royle of Fort Morgan, Colo. and Randy and Cheryl Royle of Mason City; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Darold Eaton of Grand Island; a brother, William Phillips of Pleasanton; and a sister, Erma Keilig of Ravenna.

Other survivors include 19 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.

On March 23, 1941, she married Clare ÒBudÓ Royle in Pleasanton. He died in 1991.

She graduated from Pleasanton High School and received a teaching degree from Nebraska Teachers College in Kearney. She taught for three years in the Litchfield area and also was a babysitter, cook and housekeeper.

She and her husband lived in Riverton, Wyo., where they farmed, for two years. They moved to Mason City in 1943.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mason City.

She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting and working with her flowers.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ercil Phillips; sister, Wilmetta Hadwiger; and two infant grandsons.

Memorials are suggested to the church or the Mason City fire and rescue unit.
