Darlene J. Kenney, 92, of Grand Island died on Monday, March 3, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Apfel Funeral Home with Brandon Bachle, CFC officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in the Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Darlene was born in Amherst, Nebraska on June 4,1932 to Carl and Minne Trampe. She attended school in Amherst and graduated from Amherst High School in 1950. Darlene and D.P. Kenney moved from Amherst to Grand Island, Nebraska to raise their family. She was a trusted employee for many years at Miller and Paine. Darlene was a devoted mother who supported her eight children's endeavors and delighted in the time when she took on the role of Grandma, Granny, and Granny Moo.

She was a hardworking individual, who carried with her the lessons she learned on the farm from her cherished parents and grandparents. She took great pride in being a dedicated mother and grandmother. She found peace in her garden and joy in spending time with her family.

Darlene is survived by her brothers, Delman and (Marlene) Trampe and Deloss and (Carolyn) Trampe of Kearney, NE; her treasured children, Terry Kenney of Pequot Lakes, MN, Crystal Richmond of Crete, NE, Foster and (Brenda) Kenney of Bennet, CO, Tonia Rosas of Grand Island, NE, Melissa Kenney of Grand Island, NE and Simon and (Donna) Kenney of Manhattan, KS; along with her much loved 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Minnie Trampe; brothers, Darrell, Dale, and Dewaine Trampe; sister, Donalle Holdt; her beloved children, daughter, April Davis, and son, Kelly Kenney; along with her dear grandson, Blake Russell.
