David Hill Obituary
May 25, 1935 - January 28, 2025
David James Hill, 89, of Grand Island, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on May 25, 1935, in Owosso, Michigan, to Naaman Hill and Ruth (Hawn) Hill.
David earned his Bachelor's degree in Agriculture from Michigan State University and served two years of active duty in the United States Navy, later continuing his service in the Naval Reserve. On February 13, 1956, he married Diane Conley, and together they built a life filled with love, adventure, and family.
Throughout his career, David worked in agricultural sales, which took him to many states across the country. His passion for agriculture continued as he retired from Agricultural Management in 2001 in Grand Island, NE. A proud veteran, David was a lifetime member of both the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
David's love for life was evident in his many hobbies, including playing cards and golf, where he forged lasting friendships. His warmth, sense of humor, and commitment to his family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
David is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 69 years, Diane Hill; his children Elizabeth Hill (Kevin Crotty) of Olympia, WA, David (Maria) Hill of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and Daniel (Dawn) Hill of Grand Island, NE; his sister, Joyce (Hill) Ford; as well as eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Naaman and Ruth Hill; his brother, Richard Hill; and his sister, Joanne Hill.
Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Legion or the VFW in his name.
David's legacy of service, love, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
