Jan Amundson Obituary

Jan Marie Amundson

April 20, 1958 - April 1, 2025

Jan Marie Amundson, 66, of Grand Island, died on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. A Memorial Service will be 10 a.m., on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island, with Derek Apfel CFC officiating. Burial will follow in the Grand Island City Cemetery. She was born on April 20, 1958, and graduated from Wood River High School in 1976. She earned a Bachelors of Science in Nursing at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and continued her education with an ARNP and MSN from University of Nebraska Medical Center. After retirement as a nurse practitioner, she opened a hypnotherapy clinic. She spent her life as a health care provider, caring both for her patients and family with love.

Jan loved sharing her art and hobbies with her children and grandchildren, spending many hours sewing, painting, quilting, and making pottery in her home studio. She loved learning new things, acquiring new hobbies, and sharing that joy with others. Jan married Bob on June 9, 2012, amongst Jan's carefully curated gardens. Together, she and Bob traveled the world, enjoying 13 years of marriage together. She will be remembered for her kindness, the strength she showed, and for how proud she was of all of her children.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, and her daughters Paige (Angela) Amundson, Lindsay (Jim) Clark, and sons Dean (Heather) Amundson and Dave (Tia) Wenzl. She is also survived by her mother, Ruby (Rickert) Harders, her brother Robert (Laurie) Harders, her grandchildren, Lyra, Taylor, Madison, Reese, Bostyn, Robert, and Emersyn, as well as several nieces and a nephew. She is preceded in death by her father, Delbert Harders, brother Phillip "Phil" Harders, and paternal grandparents (Otto and Marie Harders) and maternal grandparents (Joe and Florence Rickert).

I went to nursing school and worked as a nurse with Jan for several years at St. Francis. She was kind and accomplished, and always looking to learn new things.i remember many great talks when I worked with her at St Francis, and we were raising young kids. She was a wonderful, bright, kind, lady and I will miss her. Praying for her family. Kim Charron

I'm so sorry for your loss. Went to school with Jan the class of 1976. She was always a really friendly gal with a nice big smile. Hang on to your good memories.

So sorry for your loss!
Jan was my clinical preceptor at the VA for my FNP. We went to Albuquerque Academy of Hypnotherapy together. She was very dedicated and committed to taking care of others. She will be missed here.

From the class of 1976. We are so sorry for your loss. Jan was our class speaker for graduation (SATURDAY NIGHT) and contributed to the community in many ways with the years following. May you find comfort in remembering all the good and we will remember her in many ways. Find the good and God bless. Chris Dibbern & Rosemary Hatton
