John was born on August 29, 1949, in York, NE, to Philip T. and Geraldine Ann (Grant) Morgan. He attended St. Peter's Elementary School and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1967. He went on to Creighton University, where he earned both his undergraduate and law degrees and played basketball for the Bluejays.
In May 1973, John married Margaret Toomey. They built a life rooted in hard work, family, and service, raising two daughters, Mary Claire and Julie, his greatest joy and pride. Later, he found renewed happiness as a grandfather to Killian, cherishing every moment with him.
John began his career as the Buffalo County Attorney in Kearney before returning home to Fullerton in 1976 to join his father, Philip, in practice, forming Morgan & Morgan Law Offices. A respected and dedicated attorney, John also served as Nance County Attorney for many years and later as Boone County Attorney.
John devoted much of his time to his community. He spent many years coaching girls' high school basketball, mentoring youth through the Teammates program, and serving as the beloved voice in the press box announcing Fullerton football games. John was a long-time member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and the Nebraska Bar Association. John found joy in simple pleasures such as a round of golf with friends, a Creighton basketball road trip, or a family gathering filled with laughter and stories.
John is survived by his daughter, Julie Morgan of Omaha; his cherished grandson, Killian; his sisters, Anne (Dale) Johnson of Oakland, Jane (Jim) Maly of Lincoln, and Mary (James) Livingston of Grand Island; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his daughter, Mary Claire; and his parents, Philip and Geraldine Morgan.
