Joseph Ondracek Obituary

OAKLAND - Joseph Ernest "Joe" Ondracek, 65, of Oakland, formerly of Beatrice and Greeley, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Oakland Mercy Hospital.

Services will at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley, with the Rev. Donald Buhrman officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Greeley.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church, with a rosary at 7:30. T.J. Finn and Sons Mortuary of Greeley is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ondracek was born April 10, 1945, at Omaha to Ernest and Mary (Walsh) Ondracek.

Survivors of the immediate family include two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Bill Donovan of Oakland and Anne and Richard Rech of Greeley; a sister-in-law, Betty Ondracek of Greeley.

Additional survivors include many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family moved to Greeley when Joe was a young child. At the age of 7, Joe made his home in Beatrice at the State Development Center. For the past year he has lived at North Star Group Home in Oakland.

Joe was a member of the Catholic Faith and attended church and received communion regularly. He enjoyed motorcycles, tractor pulls, throwing the football and looking at pictures of cars, trucks and babies. He was an avid fan of Elvis and the Huskers. He especially enjoyed going for rides and dining out.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James "Jim" Ondracek.

Memorials are suggested to the Beatrice State Development Center.
