Joseph Robert Ryan, 74, of Greeley passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026, at All Faiths Funeral Home, 2929 South Locust St. Grand Island. Visitation will be held the hour prior. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial will follow at Nebraska Veteran's Cemetery in Grand Island with military honors by the United Veteran's Honor Guard and U.S. Navy.
All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements; memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
Joe was born on September 30, 1951, in Greeley, son of Robert and Jean (Glaser) Ryan. Joe was the oldest of 6 boys. He grew up on the family dairy farm, a place he loved and returned to later in life. Joe attended the Country School of O'Connor to 8th grade, then High School at Sacred Heart of Greeley. He was in one of the final classes to graduate from Sacred Heart in 1969. He graduated from Central Community College of Hastings with a degree in Electronics. Joe was enlisted in the U.S. Navy from July 29, 1971, until his honorable discharge on July 29, 1975. He served on the USS Kansas City, stationed near Vietnam and earned the following Medals: National Defense Service, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign. Also received the Meritorious Unit Commendation. After returning to Nebraska, Joe received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He was employed by a hospital in Sioux City, IA in the Pharmacy.
Joe returned to Greeley in 1995 to help on the family farm. He was a Husker Football fan and enjoyed watching the game with his brothers. Joe enjoyed watching horse racing and researching before placing his bets. He enjoyed his Datsun 280Z Two Door Coup Cars, at one time owning two.
Joe is survived by his brothers, Andy (Jackie) Ryan of Greeley, Larry Ryan of Omaha, Terry (Paula) Ryan of Lincoln, Tom Ryan of Grand Island, and Paul (Tina) Ryan of Grand Island; nieces and nephews, Stacie Ryan, Kori Cushing, Tara Flores, Devon Ryan, Brianna Ryan, Jared Ryan, Brandon Ryan, Jordan Ryan, Tanner Ryan, Austin Ryan, Will Ryan, and Wyatt Ryan; seven great nieces and nephews; and numerous extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
