Joyce Lewandowski Obituary
February 22, 1938 - January 13, 2025
GRAND ISLAND - Joyce LaRue Lewandowski, age 86, of Grand Island, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025 at CHI St. Francis Medical Center.
A burial will take place at a later date in the Kenesaw Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband and daughter.
Joyce was born on February 22, 1938 in Hastings to Gerald L. and Beulah A. (Daily) Halte.
On October 20, 1956 she was united in marriage to Henry "Hank" Lewandowski at St Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island, NE. They then moved to Kanab, UT. In 1957 the couple moved to Eureka, CA and then to San Bernadino, CA in 1970. They lived there until Hank retired and they moved back to Grand Island in 2002.
Joyce enjoyed playing cards and bingo, polka and square dancing, and especially loved traveling. She was a past member of the Red Hat Ladies.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Bruce (Han) Lewandowski of Lake Norman, NC and Craig (Linda) Lewandowski of Huntington, WV; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Hank Lewandowski and daughter, Terri Scalora.
