Mary Hinrichsen Obituary

Mary Jane Hinrichsen

November 29, 1944 - February 23, 2026

Mary Jane Hinrichsen, 81, of Grand Island, Nebraska, passed away on February 23, 2026. Born on November 29, 1944, in Lexington, Nebraska, Mary Jane lived a life devoted to family, education, creativity, and community.

On July 2, 1967, she married the love of her life, Ray Lee Hinrichsen. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service. Ray preceded her in death on December 6, 2020. Their enduring love remains a lasting part of her story.

Mary Jane dedicated her professional life to education, serving as an Early Childhood Specialist at ESU 9. She had a special gift for nurturing young minds and supporting fellow educators, leaving a meaningful impact on countless children and families throughout the community.

Her commitment to service extended well beyond her career. She was a devoted member and Chapter President of Alpha Delta Kappa and proudly held every office available in Beta Sigma Phi, reflecting her strong leadership and dedication to friendship and service.

Mary Jane had a creative and joyful spirit. She loved wood carving, crafting beautiful wedding cakes for special celebrations, searching for treasures at garage sales, and keeping score at softball games. She found happiness in both the simple pleasures of life and in cheering on those she loved.

She was preceded in death by Earl White, Florance White-Mohr, Ray Hinrichsen, Norma Abood, Richard White, and Bob White.

She is survived by Phyllis Kracman, Jerry White, Tyson Hinrichsen, Trish Hinrichsen, Katinya McIntosh, Tristen Hinrichsen, Rocky Aycock, Lincoln Hinrichsen, Mason Hinrichsen, Malachi Swisher, and Daniel Smith; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.

Mary Jane will be remembered for her servant's heart, her leadership, her creativity, and the steady love she gave to those around her. Her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped, the traditions she created, and the family she so dearly loved.

A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7th, followed by a service at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church. Lunch will follow the service as family and friends gather to celebrate her life. Online condolences and sharing of memories may be directed to www.livson.com. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Dear family, Mary Jane was a truly special person and we had many good laughs together playing pinochle over the years; I admired her green thumb and her artistic talents with woodworking. She will be missed greatly. My heartfelt condolences for your loss. Rest in Peace dear friend.
