Jeanie was born August 27, 1938, on a family farm in Otoe County, the daughter of Henry and Ruby (Schmidt) Homfeld. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. She attended country school near her home before moving with her family to Grand Island in 1951. Jeanie graduated from Grand Island Senior High with the Class of 1956 and later worked at a local café and the Grand Theatre.

She was united in marriage to Loy Glause on March 2, 1957, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island.

Jeanie enjoyed quilting, crocheting, baking, gardening, and making sweets for her grandchildren. She especially loved playing games with them and attending their activities. She was an avid Husker fan and took great pride in following her children's and grandchildren's sporting events. She was also a talented seamstress who made dresses for the girls and even neckties for the boys.

She was a devoted and extremely active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Worms, where she participated in Bible study groups, Ladies Aid, LWML, LLL, and the quilting group. Jeanie was always ready to lend a hand and serve in any way she could for her church family.

Survivors include her children and spouses, Cynthia and Chris Saltzgaber of Erie, Colorado, Randy Glause of Grand Island, Kevin and Sharon Glause of Palmer, Amy and Craig Harper of Prole, Iowa, Galen Glause of Palmer, Brian and Dorothea Glause of St. Libory, Joy and Bill Langrehr of St. Libory, Aaron and Michelle Glause of Malcom, Dawn and James Bunner of Clarkson, Nathan and Michelle Glause of Palmer, Elaine Glause of Grand Island, Clayton and Amy Glause of Fremont, and Penny and Darren Price of Hastings; former daughter-in-law, Jackie Glover of Doniphan; 40 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Ossana Schales of Hurricane, Utah, Charlene and Gary Peterson of Grand Island, and Donna and Ken Noel of Grand Island; brothers-in-law, Andy and Janette Glause of St. Libory and Paul and Marie Glause of St. Libory; and sister-in-law, Naomi Rouse of Tucson, Arizona.

Yesterday

Due to being out of state, I will not be able to attend either Jeanie's visitation or funeral. My wife, Jeanniene, and I really appreciated and respected Jeanie, Loy, and the entire Glause family and very much enjoyed our interactions with them. They were the epitome of close family and family enterprise. I thank God for their influence on me and others.
