Robert "Bob" O. Young

Robert "Bob" O. Young, age 92, of Grand Island, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.

Bob's urn will be laid to rest at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Condolences can be left at www.giallfaiths.com.

Bob was born on August 20, 1933, in North Platte to Oakie and Hazel (Murray) Young. He graduated from North Platte High School in 1951. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1952 and served his tour of duty in Japan in the Air Force Security Service. He was honorably discharged in 1956.

He worked in Denver, CO from 1947 through 1959 as an accounting machine operator. He moved to California and worked at Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Company as an account machine operator from 1960 to 1963. He moved back to Denver and worked at the US Postal Service from 1964 to 1969 as a postal clerk. He moved back to North Platte in 1970 and worked different jobs until he went to work at the Ist National Bank, as the head maintenance man from 1975 to 1993.

He married Jan Nelson of North Platte in 1977. Jan had one daughter, and three boys, Jan and Bob enjoyed them very much. Bob and Jan divorced in 1994.

Bob moved to Grand Island in 1993 and worked odd jobs until 1995 when he went to work for St. Francis Medical Center as a housekeeper for 9 years and retired at 74 years old.

Bob liked sports and to watch Nebraska Husker football and KC Royals baseball.
