Steven Wayne Rakosky
GRAND ISLAND - Steven Wayne "Steve" Rakosky, age 63, of Grand Island passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
To honor Steve's wishes cremation was chosen. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.
Steve was born April 6, 1960, in Ord, NE, the son of Wayne and Barbara (Klanecky) Rakosky. He grew up in Loup City, graduating from Loup City High School, class of 1978.
On September 19, 1981, he married Barbara Joy. They had met while both were employed at Fonner Park. Steve had also worked at Mid-America Dairymen, Inc. at Superior. He then got his CNA license and was employed with Good Samaritan in Nelson, NE, for a few years. He later worked for the City of Nelson.
Steve loved fireworks. The 4th of July was his Christmas. He and Barbara had a fireworks stand for 11 years. He also loved going to concerts, of which KISS was a favorite. He was also a Green Bay Packers fan.
Those who cherish Steve's memory include his wife, Barbara; brother, Alan (Debra) Rakosky; sisters, Cathy (Gary) Slater and Carol (Dolf) Ichtertz; brother-in-law, Tom (Roxanne) Joy; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved four-legged buddy, Penny.
He was preceded by his parents; parents-in-law, Myron "Junior" and Dorothy Joy; sister-in-law, Judy Joy Duey; and several of his furry buddies, Chelsea, Barney, Sammi and Petey.
