Timothy Reimers Obituary

Timothy H. "Tim" Reimers, 68, of Grand Island, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, April 29, 2022.
Tim's wish was to be cremated.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 6, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Martin L. Egging will be the celebrant. Inurnment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the United Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Army Honor Team.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with a vigil service at 6. Tim was an avid Husker fan and the family would appreciate your show of support by dressing in Husker Red.

Tim was born June 17, 1953, in Grand Island, the son of Alvin H. and Rosetta (Wissing) Reimers. Tim grew up in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Central Catholic in 1971. He continued his schooling at Hastings Community College studying auto body. He entered the U.S. Army on Sept. 26, 1975, serving until his honorable discharge on Sept. 26, 1978. He continued his service in the National Guard until January 2005. Tim continued his education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln after his discharge, graduating in 1979 with an industrial arts teaching degree. He completed his Master's Degree at Kearney State College in 1986. Tim has taught industrial arts/construction/automotive classes in Cedar Bluffs, Greeley, Winfield, Kan., and Scottsbluff. Tim drove truck for Central Refrigeration and Nussbaum until an accident on Sept. 18, 2018, forced him to retire.
Tim was an avid Husker football fan and season ticket holder. He could be found cheering at every Husker football game. He enjoyed all things related to shop and shop class. He was a tinkerer and loved fixing anything. He enjoyed boating, fishing and riding his motorcycle.
Tim was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, American Legion, American Legion Riders, and the Platt-Duetsche Society.
Tim is survived by his sisters, Suzi Petersen of Loveland, Colo., Shirley (David) Bruner of Fremont, Elizabeth (Ken) Peyton of Grand Island, Carol (Gene) O'Gorman Backhaus of Denver, Colo., Patricia (Jeff) Fulton of Grand Island, and Lizetta (Jerry) Archer of Franklin; a brother, Jamie, (Deb) Reimers of San Antonia, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Rosetta Reimers; and a nephew, Bobby Washington.

I'm sorry to hear of Tim's passing. I remember having gatherings at Uncle Pete's & Aunt Elaine's house and your family would be there also and with all of us, it would be a houseful! Good times. May good memories comfort you at this difficult time.
