Wilmer Bieber Obituary
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Sheri Lodel officiating. Interment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Mr. Bieber was born March 9, 1927, in Java, S.D., to John and Celia (Miller) Bieber.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Bieber.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Doris Bieber of Grand Island; a daughter and son-in-law, Carmen and Dan Fox of Grand Island; a daughter-in-law, Christine Bieber of Grand Island; and a brother and sister-in-law, Otto and Fern Bieber of South Dakota.
Those also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Tia, Zac and his wife, Flo, Josh, and Savanna, and great-grandchildren, Macy, Ivan, Ethan, Kye, Sven, Kaleb, Siara, Kal, Jaxon, Mila and Lucy.
He received his education in Java, S.D. He entered the U.S. Navy on March 6, 1945 and was honorably discharged on Jan. 6, 1953. Wilmer was united in marriage to Doris Oster on July 11, 1948, in Bowdle, S.D. They farmed in South Dakota and were also custom harvesters. They moved to Grand Island in 1966, where Wilmer was employed by New Holland Industries.
He was a charter member of Calvary Lutheran Church, VFW and American Legion Club.
He truly loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed visiting his many friends at the Grand Island Veterans Home. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in South Dakota, skeet shooting, gardening, and the outdoors.
Wilmer was also preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Trinity; granddaughter, Sara; sisters, Viola and Vivian; and brother, Edwin.
Memorials are suggested to Calvary Lutheran Church.

I'm sorry we didn't get the news of your loss in time to make the funeral. God bless you all and may the peace of God's love be with you always.
We will always remember with fondness the Johnny Cash concert in Omaha many years ago. The concert was great, but the your visit and the story behind it will always be in our memory.
