Warrington - John J. "Jack" Donahue, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Christ's Home, Warminster, 1 year, 2 months and 20 days after his beloved wife Donna A. (Buddendorf) Donahue passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Abington-Jefferson Hospital, Lansdale.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 04, 2021 from 10:15 AM until their Funeral Mass begins at 11:00 AM in Saint Robert Bellarmine Church, 856 Euclid Ave., Warrington, PA 18976. Interment will follow in Lawnview Cemetery. Those unable to attend in person may join via livestream at
www.campbellfh.com John J. "Jack: Donahue, P.E. was the loving husband and wonderful life partner of Donna A. (Buddendorf) Donahue since 1985. He was the son of deceased parents, Elizabeth (Toland) and Edward Donahue and brother of Gerald, James and Dennis Donahue.
Jack served in the U.S. Army reserves from 1967 to 1973. Jack grew up In the Lawndale section of Northeast Philadelphia and was a registered professional mechanical engineer. Jack worked for Day & Zimmerman Engineers, was a partner in the Vitetta Group Architects and Engineers, and an associate and department head at Vincent Kling Architects. He began his working career in September 1962 and retired after 48.5 years in February 2010. Jack's work travels took him to many of the United States, Saudi Arabia, London, England, Rome, Italy and Athens, Greece, developing process purified water systems.
Jack taught Informational training systems seminars at the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University on engineering systems along with his fellow architects and engineers in his company. He was the past president of the PA A.S.S.E., Phila Chapter and surrounding counties and past editor of their "Pipeline" newspaper. Jack was also a member of PA Society for Professional Engineers. Jack was the chief adult advisor to the St. William's C.Y.O., Parish council member, and a lector; chairman of the Archdiocese of Phila. Recognition Dinner Committee and also a lector at his home parish of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in Warrington, PA. Jack was the recipient of the C.Y.O. "Julia Forst" Memorial Award, John Simons Memorial Award from the Lawndale/Lawncrest Kiwanis, and the 1974 Grand Marshal of the Lawndale/Lawncrest Fourth of July Celebration Service to the Community Award.
For relaxation, Jack ventured into the interior of Canada for summer canoe trips and in the winter for snow mobile trips to a friend's cabin there. Jack and Donna had a summer home on the Bay in Mystic Island, New Jersey for a few years. Jack always said that he could not have had any of these life adventures without the support and encouragement of his wife Donna, and some of the best friends with whom he grew-up, who put up with him darting in and out of their lives.
Donna A. (Buddendorf) Donahue was the loving wife of John J. "Jack" Donahue was born and raised in the Lawndale section of Philadelphia. She was predeceased by her parents John J. and Jennie V. (Davis) Buddendorf. She was the sister of Jennie L. Casey (Buddendorf) and John J. Buddendorf, Jr. and aunt to eight nieces and nephews.
She was a student at Saint William grade school, graduated with honors from Cardinal Dougherty High School, attended Saint Joseph's University and the Community College of Philadelphia. Donna worked at the law firm of Dilworth, Paxon and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in downtown Philadelphia. She also worked for the Vice President of Finance at American Meter Company, Horsham, PA. She enjoyed ceramics, sewing, flower arranging and raising roses and volunteered for many years at Neshaminy Manor Nursing Home in Warrington. Donna lived with her husband, Jack, at Legacy Oaks Retirement Community in Warrington and enjoyed her neighbors, friends, various trips and activities in the community.
