Cornwell, Benjamin

Benjamin Cornwell, 19, of Moravia NY, died on September 18th, 2013. He was born on July 7th in Ithaca, NY, the son of Timothy and Laurie (Hartnett) Cornwell. Ben was a graduate of Moravia High School Class of 2012 and went on to attend SUNY Oswego. Ben was a member of the Marching Band and Boy Scouts for many years. In high school Ben was also a member the wrestling, baseball, soccer, and football teams. Ben was outgoing and humorous, and he loved to make new friends. He also held his friendships dearly. He will be greatly missed. Ben is survived by his parents Timothy and Laurie; sister Jennifer; Grandparents Jerry and Martha Cornwell of Ithaca NY, Grandfather Donald Hartnett of Geneseo NY, great grandmother Mavis Cornwell of Meridian, MS. Ben was preceded by his Grandmother Ruth (Bird) Hartnett. Ben also had many close, lifelong friends - especially Mary and John Donovan of Moravia. Funeral arrangements are by Wade Funeral Home in Moravia. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 21st at 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to: Four-Town First Aid Inc. Moravia, Moravia Central School Music Boosters, Moravia Central School Sports Boosters, or Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital. There will be a celebration of Ben's life at the Moravia fire house on Sunday, September 22nd from 2 to 5 PM.

Dear Tim, Laurie,& Jen,
We were all shocked and saddened in learning of the tragic loss of Ben. He was a great person and will be missed by all of us that knew him as a close friend and those who only knew him as a passing smiling kid at the Market or on the street.
The Fillmore Auto Show committee is sending $250.00 to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in his memory.
