He afterwards served in the National Guard as a medic, for a total of 19 1/2 years of military service, before his discharge with the rating of Tech Sgt. Doug is survived by his sons, Keith (Eve) of Ithaca, and Kevin (Amy) of Locke; his daughters, Pamela Purdy (Phil) of Venice Center, and Kimberly Wojtanik (Randy) of Newfield; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Carroll of Georgia; his life-time friends, Paul Turo and John "Dennis" Wharton; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Sue Ann (Stover) Workman, on March 26, 2012, by his infant son, Earl Douglas Workman, and by his three brothers, Edsel, Carl, and William Taylor Jr. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 20, at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, Genoa. Great Man!! He would scold me one day on the bus, then the next day put his arm around me and say "Hey Moochie, how's it going". He was almost a father figure to me when I would spend time at the house with Kim. Bless you all!

The world has lost a true gentleman and an incredibly loving and gentle soul. I grew up hearing my mother (Nettie Stover) talk about her wonderful cousin Douglas. As an adult I was privileged to get to know him and Sue. I've never met anyone else who could match them in terms of being warm and welcoming.

God bless you all and may you be comforted in remembering the tremendous love and pride he had for you.

A loving father, a gentle soul, a man always filled with happiness and a smile for all he met. What a wonderful person who touched the lives of so many. He will truly be missed, but his love lives on in the hearts of all his family and friends. We were fortunate and honored to call him Dad. He is now at peace and by Susie's side, watching over us all. Rest in Peace, dear Doug.

A man I had the pleasure of coming to know, shared laughs, & tears with. He is an outstanding father who admitted his flaws, and a loving husband. He said things to me so beautifully, & simply, & was patient with me always. A truly good man. One of a kind. I'm honored to have been able to meet & care for Doug. He will always have a special place in my heart.
