Christie, Charles "Chuck"

Charles "Chuck" Christie, 78, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the Hospicare Residence. He was born in Watertown, son of the late Robert Christie and Hazel Peer and was also predeceased by his wife, Audrey Christie who died in 2005. In 1968 Chuck became the first male to graduate from the Ithaca School of Nursing at the Tompkins County Hospital. He worked in nursing for many years before retiring from the Reconstruction Home after more than twenty years of service. Following his retirement he worked for several years at the Northside Pharmacy/Kinney Drugs. He served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was an avid bowler. Chuck is survived by his children, Cindy (Rex) Martin, Cheryl Fuller, Kimberley Christie and Anthony (April) Christie; his grandchildren, Andrew and Sean Martin, Katie and Mike Fuller, Jeremy Rodgers, Amanda Rodgers-Hayward, Sara Stage-Pierce, and George Jr., Gabriel, Christian and Tianna English and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Thomas (Carol), Robert (Esther), Ronald (Barbara) and Raymond Christie; sister-in-law, Dolores Sherwood Cornish; his kids (dogs), Bear and Logan and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 13th at 7 pm at the Bangs Funeral Home. Friends may call prior to service from 5 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospicare, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850.
