Darwin Lewis Geuther

Dover - Darwin Lewis Geuther, 93, of Bellamy Fields Assisted Living, formerly of Tara Estates in Rochester and East Miller Road, Ithaca, NY, died on Sunday May 6, 2018.

Born April 1, 1925 in Waymart, PA, the son of Stephen and Ethel (Gaylord) Geuther. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Charles, and Merton, and sisters Neva, Elva, Leeta, and Dorothy. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Florence (Edwards) Geuther; four children, Ron Geuther of Averill Park, NY, Karen Graham (Bob) of Portsmouth, Debbie Brady (Tom) of Gilford, and Mark Geuther of Dover; six grandchildren, Justin, Ryan, Colleen and her husband Seth, Jennifer, Katie and Stephen; Kris Geuther of Somersworth; sister Nina Kozak of FL; his grandniece, Janet Curtis who he was proud to say operates the farm where he was born and raised; additionally, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, although unnamed, he was proud of their many accomplishments.

He proudly served in World War II in the U.S. Navy Third Fleet (Pacific) aboard the USS Duluth. He attended Wilkes College and graduated from Alfred Agricultural Technical Institute. Darwin worked at Agway for 35 years before his retirement.

He was a member of The Danby Federated Church in Danby, NY for 40 plus years and later a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church in Rochester, NH.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday May 10th at the Bethany United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m., 24 Main St East Rochester, NH. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. An Interment Service will be held at the New Hampshire Veteran's Cemetery in Boscawen, NH at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bethany United Methodist Church or The American Red Cross.

Dear Florence and family,

Sorry to hear of Darwin's passing. I met him while in nurse's training at TC3. Never knew he was a WWII vet.

Debbie, Mark, Ron, Karen, and "Mrs. G" ... just heard the news. I have MANY memories of Mr. G. ... hanging at your house, mealtimes, seeing who could eat more bread with your mom's spaghetti (your dad was a fierce competitor) , your mom being frustrated because Darwin was so fastidious that he threw an item in the garbage that she still needed! And one day at your kitchen sink, your mom taught me a marital lesson when I was 17: She knew something I didn't think she knew and when I expressed surprise, her response was, "Of course my husband told me ... we have no secrets in this marriage." :-)

And then when I wrote my first book in 1998 and mailed it to him, he told me by phone it was good enough to get a quarter from him, as he once rewarded you 4 as kids!

Memories are funny things, eh? Anyway, please take care and know that your dad will forever be in my life.
