Doris Bowman Obituary
Lansing: Doris Irene Bowman passed away June 12, 2013, at Bridges Cornell Heights, at the age of 85. A lifelong resident of the Lansingville area, Doris was a daycare provider for numerous children in the Lansing area. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her presence will be dearly missed. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Mabel (Haycook) Pendell, Sr., and a stepbrother, Wesley Pendell, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert L. Bowman; daughter, Bonnie Williams (Donn) of SC; son, Rodney Bowman (Patricia) of Lansing; grandchildren, Christopher Williams (Lisa) of SC, Bethany Visser (Chad) of NY, James Bowman (Janelle) of Lansing, Rachel Sharpsteen (Eric) of Cortland, Ethan Bowman (Jessica) of FL; and twelve great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Doris' memory may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association of Central NY, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204 or ALZ.org. A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Jason Berga, will be held at Asbury Church, 2978 N. Triphammer Rd., Lansing, NY, at 1 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2013. Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lansing, will be private. Lansing Funeral Home is assisting the family.

My deepest sympathy to all of you. Bob was my bus driver for many years and I was a classmate of Bonnie. Although I didn't know Doris well, I remember what a sweet woman she was.

Dear Family and Friends of Doris Bowman:
Visiting Nurse Service recently learned of the passing of Doris Bowman. Our clinicians have voiced how much they enjoyed providing Doris with home care services during her time of need.
The grief you are experiencing at this time is natural but it can become overwhelming as the realization that life will be forever changed because of the loss of a dear one. This is why we want to make you aware of the bereavement services offered by a partner agency of ours – Hospicare of Tompkins County.

Each of us grieves in our own way but never alone. Our clinicians want to express how much they cared for Doris and their hope that you will find comfort in the memories that will live on forever within you, your family members and friends.
