ELIZABETH JANE WELCH
Union City, GA - Elizabeth Jane Welch went to her eternal rest on Wednesday, November 2, 2005, after a courageous battle with Leukemia. Liz was born in Ithaca on August 6, 1979, a daughter of Mabel Evans Welch and the late Rev. Clarence Welch Jr. She was a native Ithacan.She graduated from Ithaca High School, Class of 1997 and attended Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia before transferring to Adelphi University in Garden City where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in May 2001. Elizabeth came home and worked for a year at Family Medicine Associates. She relocated to Atlanta, Georgia to sojourn with her life long sister-friend Maya Smith. She worked various jobs until getting a position at Advanced Career Training (ACT) as a career services counselor.Liz had an unshakeable faith in Jesus Christ. She actively exercised her faith by challenging herself and exhorting those she came in contact with to seek God and all of His bountiful blessings. While having only a part time position, she felt it was time to own her own home. She launched out on faith and did purchase a home in Union City, Georgia, where she resided until it was time to leave. Through all of her illness Liz remained steadfast in her faith, giving God the glory. She believed her life to be a testimony and stated" I won't complain".She is survived by her mother, Mabel Evans Welch; two brothers, Jerome Anthony (Pamela) Alston of Elmira and Clarence Welch III of Ithaca; four sisters, Alison Diane Welch of Ithaca, Jacquelyn Clarice Welch, Madison Alabama and Danielle Marie Welch of Charleston, SC; a maternal grandmothers, Dorothy L. Bibbie of Ithaca and a paternal grandmother, Maggie Welch of Northport Alabama, a fiancé, Marlon Gibran Bryant; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.Funeral services will be Monday (November 7, 2005) at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Ithaca. Calling hours and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society or to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements were completed by
