James Dormady Obituary
James R. Dormady, 82, native of Ithaca NY passed away on July 1, 2021. He was born in 1939, to Mary E. Conway and Edward A. Dormady. He was the youngest of six brothers. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen Krizek Dormady and children Edward and Deborah, grandchildren Isabelle and Andrew, brother Joseph and sisters-in-law MaryAnn, Marilyn, Blanche, and many nieces and nephews. He was employed as a banker with the Tompkins County Trust Company for 53 years. Jim and Helen embraced the motto "We Serve" with the Ithaca Lions Club and Lions Club International for nearly 60 years as well as guiding the formation of other local Lions clubs. He served Lions Camp Badger (Empire State Speech and Hearing Clinic) as a volunteer weekend cook and treasurer for 40 years. He was a Boy Scout Leader for hundreds of scouts in the 50's and 60's in the Baden-Powell Council. He was a generous blood donor, a volunteer for the NYS Eyebank, as well as organizing the NY State Scottyland Camping Association in the 60's and 70's.
He was always willing to sit down with you for a chat over a cup of coffee.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday July 8th at 10AM, at the Calvary Cemetery on Five Mile Drive in Ithaca NY Herson-Wagner Funeral Home is coordinating the service.
Donations (in lieu of flowers) may be sent to the Empire State Special Needs Experience at Lions Camp Badger http://www.lionscb.org/

Helen and family,
Jim was a good man. I know he did so much for our community. He was always pleasant to work with. He always spoke highly of his family. I remember the Halloween he dressed up as Dracula! I can still see him laughing as he entered the bank! I am so sorry for your loss.

I was in Troop 11 at West Hill back in 1961 - 1965 I remember Jim and Dave Terry very well. Jim was a good man in mine and many others eyes.
