Jeannette Baily Obituary

BAILY, JEANNETTE February 28, 1914 to May 27, 2007
One of three children born to Polish immigrants Mary and Walter Pulsa, Jeannette grew up in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Austin High School and immediately began working. In spite of her limited resources, Jeannette's personality carried the day. Her positive outlook, high energy and confidence enabled her to break through the difficult barriers of her day. In 1948 she boldly forged ahead to create a new start in Miami, Florida, after her divorce, accompanied by her two year old son Robert. Jeannette started her professional career in financial services. At a time when few women were provided with management opportunities, she broke through the barrier of gender discrimination and earned the title of Vice President in the mortgage banking business. She retired after a successful long term career. Retirement brought the freedom Jeannette needed to do what she loved most...traveling. In 1981, Jeannette married Joe Baily and began traveling the world. Her lust for experiencing the unexperienced led her to every country on the globe. There was no location too remote and no mountain too tall. Jeannette saw the world as few people ever have. When she was traveling, she was happy. Jeannette made her home in La Jolla in 1987. She continued her aggressive world travel until her death. When she was not traveling she would often be seen walking Oliver, her grandson's Portuguese Water Dog in the village or attending exercise class at the Riford Center. A remarkable woman and an inspiration to all who knew her. Jeannette Baily is survived by her sister Melvina, her son Robert and grandson Scott. We can all be assured that Jeannette is continuing her travels to new and undiscovered parts of heaven, happier than ever... in the loving arms of angels. Memorial Service will be held on June 23rd, Saturday, 10:30 a.m. at La Jolla Presbyterian Church located at 7715 Draper Avenue, La Jolla, CA 92037. Donations in remembrance of Jeannette may be sent to Friends of the Riford Center, 6811 La Jolla Blvd., La Jolla, CA 92037. Please sign the guest book at obituaries.uniontrib.com?

Oh Jeannette. You sweet lady. Your work as VIP with the San Diego Police Department was not mentioned but will not be forgotten. That is how I met you. Your tireless energy was an inspiration to me and I loved hearing about your travels. You left no stone unturned!
