BLINDMAN'S BLUFF

My deepest condolences.

I was a Reader for Dr. Hutcheson very briefly, for just six or eight months of the past school year. It was an incredible privilege to get to know him. I am a phD candidate in English at Cornell, and when he learned that I was about to start teaching he gave me all kinds of advice. He would always ask about my students and he helped me plan my class-- even reading some of the things I was planning to assign!

He was incredibly nice to me and I was so impressed by how intelligent, caring and patient he was. Many times, he would ask for my help with the computer and instead of getting angry when the computer wouldn't do what we wanted, he would just laugh!

I will never forget Dr. Hutcheson. As I follow in some of his academic footsteps, I thank God that I got to know him even for a little while. He was a wonderful mentor, example, and friend and I am so sad that he is gone.
