Ronald Humerez Obituary

Ronald Marcos Humerez

Ithaca - Because you departed ~ our world became a little emptier.

Ronald Marcos Humerez, born November 21, 1952 in Ithaca, NY passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY at the age of 66. Ronald was a great son, brother, brother in law and uncle to his family. He graduated from Ithaca High School in 1971 and attended Tompkins Cortland Community College. In 1972 Ronald suffered a drowning accident which forever changed his life causing him to suffer from seizures. He worked for a short time at Borg Warner. Looks are very deceiving; Ronald was very approachable even if you did not think so. Ronald was the recipient of many awards for his positive willingness in helping others and his can-do attitude. He was a best friend to all who knew him. Some of Ron's favorite things were attending the NY State Fair, the Ithaca Festival and Ithaca firework displays. He also was an expert garage sale enthusiast, always finding the best bargains.

Ronald was predeceased by a younger brother, Ricardo (Ricky) Humerez in 2002. He is survived by his parents, Ricardo & Alice Humerez; an older brother, James (Barbara) Humerez, a younger brother, Eric (Cheryl) Humerez; nieces and nephew, Shannon Moravec, Camellia Stevens, and Alexander Humerez; and many great nieces & nephews and extended family members. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 2 PM, Saturday, December 22, 2018 prior to the funeral at 2 PM at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY. Pastor Wade Jacobsen will officiate. Burial, delayed, will be in Lansingville Cemetery, Lansing, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jenkins Center Starlight Social Club, 301 S. Geneva St., Suite 109. Ithaca, NY 14850. www.perkinsfunera lhome.com

Ron was a good person. I remember times around the Humerez family dinner table when I was privileged to be there at the same time as Ron. He was always talkative and enthusiastic, and always ready to help if he could. I know how much he will be missed by his friends and family, and it is heartbreaking to think about. My heart goes out to the family and I hope that you are able to find some comfort in your stories and memories.

I'm sorry for the loss. Growing up with Eric I often heard stories of his brothers, told as only a brother could. Find grace within the stories told of Ron. This isn't the way to be reminded of the Humerez family. I am so sorry, please find peace as the memories of Ron and the family are told around the kitchen table.

Dear Ron,
I hope you are at peace. I enjoyed working with you. You made me think about how each of us can define what something means, and those differences can be celebrated. Thank you so much for being a part of my life. Sing and dance with joy, for now you are truly free.

It is just too quiet around the house since you've been gone. We miss your stories. We miss playing cards with you. We even miss your loud sneezes. You will always be with us no matter where we go. We know you will be watching out over us all as Ricky has in the past.
Each and every person in the family has their own little Ron stories & memories to tell and how much they loved you.
You will always be remembered and never forgotten. Thank you for the love you showed us.
