Stephen Haines Obituary
McLean - Stephen E. Haines, 60, of McLean, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse, after a brief illness.
He was born June 7, 1957 in Fort Fairfield, Maine, a son of the late Richard N. and Janice (Hoyt) Haines.
Steve was a dairy farmer, operating Haines Farms, now a third generation business. He was a graduate of Dryden Central School and was an avid outdoorsman. He had a deep love of family, the land and for hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Deena (Dunn) Haines, sons, Justin (Jackie) and Kyle (Brittany) Haines, both of Cortland, grandchildren, Theodore Stephen and Brynn Alyza Haines, sisters: Connie Brown (Peter), Jennifer Morey (John), and Harmony Haines; a brother, Carl Haines (Bonnie), many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Samuel and Richard Haines.
A celebration of Stephen's life will be held at 12:00 pm (noon), Friday, April 27, in the Grace Christian Fellowship Church, 1250 Fisher Ave., Cortland. Friends may call at the church on Friday, from 10 am to 12 pm, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Steve's memory are graciously directed to the Lime Hollow Nature Center, 338 McLean Road, Cortland, NY 13045.

My family and I always enjoyed our visits along the back hedgerow with Steve. He would be on the tractor or atv passing by and always have a wave and toot the horn for the kids. I particularly liked his stories, some about my late grandfather, and had some fun trading the latest word on what was happening around and about. I could often hear him whistling in the summer pre-dawn doing chores. We will miss him very much. Please know we are keeping the Haines Family in prayer and are just a call away if we can help with anything.
