Marilyn Preheim Obituary

Marilyn Mae Preheim
Moundridge - Marilyn Mae Preheim, 81, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021 in Pine Village of Moundridge. She was born May 5, 1940 in rural Kingman County, near Cheney, Kansas.
Her family moved to a farm in rural Reno County where she spent her youth. Her 1st to 12th grade education was in the Pretty Prairie school system. She then spent one year in North Newton, at Bethel College. Marilyn was baptized in the First Mennonite Church of Pretty Prairie, where she became a member. Her membership was later transferred to the Eden Mennonite Church.
Marilyn's work career began as telephone operator first at Newton and then in Hutchinson. Her marriage brought her back to Newton as receptionist at Doctor's Park and as a mail clerk at Hesston Corporation. This was followed by long term employment at Prairie View mental health facility.
Her great smile and pleasant personality along with a genuine concern for others made her an amazing wife, a wonderful mother, and a cherished friend. Marilyn enjoyed her musical talent by attending and performing in music theatre. Despite her long-standing physical challenges, she maintained a remarkably positive attitude and never let them defeat her spirit or her faith.
After being introduced on a blind date, she chose and married Kenneth Preheim on July 30, 1960. This marriage was blessed with three sons along with their families grieve her death. Sons, Lynn Date and wife, Cameron, Bret Alan and wife, Carol, and Trent Jay and wife, Angela; grandchildren, Emily (Steven) Farve, Paige Preheim, Justin Preheim, Max Preheim, and Silas Preheim; step-grandchildren, T.J. Wiebe (Emily), and Cole Gooden; great-grandchildren, Oliver Farve and Drew Farve. She is also survived by one sister, Lavera Schrag of Newton; one brother, Kenneth (Ellie) Schrag of East End, Canada; one brother-in-law, James Preheim (Gladys) of Peabody; two sisters-in-law, Darla Schrag of Pretty Prairie, and Judith Graber of Pretty Prairie; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Adina Schrag; brothers, Delmar Schrag and Donald Schrag (stillborn); and brothers-in-law, Calvin Preheim and Kenneth Graber.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Eden Mennonite Church. Due to the increase of positive COVID-19 cases, the family has requested masks to be worn. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, November 26, at Moundridge Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Eden Mennonite Church or Pine Village in care of Moundridge Funeral Home, PO Box 410, Moundridge, Kansas 67107.
