Virginia Holmes Obituary
Virginia A. Russell Holmes, 78, former residence of Friendship Towers, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at UPMC Hamot.
She was born March 9, 1936, in Erie, a daughter of the late Earl and Veronica Hunter Russell.
Virginia enjoyed arts and crafts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Alyce Sprague; brothers, Herbert, Richard, James, and Teddy Russell; and sisters, Betty and Gloria Russell.
She is survived by her children, Lewis Sprague, Eleanor Conner, Rick Sprague (Brenda), Rebecca O'Connor (Jesus Burgos), Arthur Sprague, Ruth Bingaman (Boyd), and Kimberly Kelner (Joe); siblings, William Russell, Fred Russell, Jack Russell (Annie), Esther Kuczynski, Janice Loop, Charlene Kuna, Sandy Wilson (David), Trudy Robson (Dave), Arthur Russell (Sandy), Albert Russell (Charlotte), and Edward Russell. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday at Solomon's Porch Apostolic Assembly, 202 East 11th Street, at noon. Burial will be private, in Laurel Hill Cemetery. The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, is handling arrangements.

I am writing on behalf of Betty Landis. As you may know she was Virginia's roommate at The Village of Luther Square. Betty unfortunately could not come to the services and wanted to send her deepest sympathy to all those who knew and loved Virginia. Betty is very saddened by Virginia sudden death and will sorely miss her as a roommate and dear friend.

Our world has less light today, but heaven is a little brighter with her arrival. She has touched all of our lives with her gentleness and advice.
