Maxine E. Finnesgard

1931 - 2024

Kenyon - Maxine E. Finnesgard, 92, of Kenyon, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024 at her home.

She was born October 30, 1931 in Harmony, Minnesota to Max and Lillian (Oftedal) Elliott. The family lived for a short time in Harmony before moving to St. Paul and finally settling in Kenyon, where Maxine graduated in 1949. After high school she worked as an office administrator. On January 27, 1951 she married Merlin Finnesgard at the United Methodist Church in Kenyon. In 1955 they moved to Seattle for a short time before moving back to Kenyon. She worked for Payant Drug Store and later at Foldcraft where she retired from in 1993. Maxine loved to go fishing and dancing. She also spent numerous hours quilting for her children and grandchildren. Maxine was a lifetime member of Gol Lutheran Church and was a member of the Ladies Aid for numerous years.

She is survived by her sons, Robert (and Roxanne) Finnesgard of Spring Grove, James (and Elizabeth) Finnesgard of Colorado City, CO; son in law, Jack Tomsich of Prior Lake; grandchildren, Roxann Brandrup, Beth Vavra, Jonathan Finnesgard, Ryan Tomsich, Chad Tomsich, Joseph Finnesgard, Jamie Marshall; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Charles (and Marilyn) Elliott of St. Cloud.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin Finnesgard; daughter, Susan Tomsich, infant son, Baby Boy Finnesgard; siblings, Richard Elliott, Karen Spiess, Elinor Everet, infant bother Mertin Elliott.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, at 11AM at Gol Lutheran Church with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Joe Jorgensen officiating. Interment will be in the Gol Lutheran Cemetery in Kenyon. Memorials are preferred to Gol Lutheran Church.
