James Faulkenberry Obituary
He was born March 31, 1934 in Lancaster, a son of the late James David Faulkenberry and Mabel Blackmon Faulkenberry.
Mr. Faulkenberry was married to Barbara Deese Faulkenberry for 64 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Mr. Faulkenberry served his great country in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Springs Industries after 38 years and then went to work with SCDOT and retired from there after six years. Before his stroke, he loved working a garden. Mr. Faulkenberry loved his tractors and hanging with his two sons. He was a member of Union Baptist Church where he was a former greeter, treasurer of his Sunday School Class and also sang in the choir for years.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Faulkenberry will be held Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025 at 3 p.m. at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Catlin Rollings and Rev. Dr. Jackie Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.
Mr. Faulkenberry is survived by his wife, Barbara D. Faulkenberry; two sons, Jeff Faulkenberry (Lynn) and Jerry Faulkenberry (Lori); grandchildren, Eric Faulkenberry (Tiffany) and Brenda Childers (Ryan); three great-granddaughters, Sophia, EveLyn and Addi; his sister-in-law, Faye Faulkenberry; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Julian Faulkenberry, Donald Faulkenberry and Melvin Faulkenberry; three sisters, Shirley Hall, Gilda Atkinson and Norma Faulkenberry.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025 at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Baptist Bus Fund, 5003 Taxahaw Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to his caregivers, Kathy Whitcomb, Melody Lyon and to Agape Hospice of Lancaster.
