James Ledell "Dell" Jenkins Jr.

1962 - 2021

LANCASTER – James Ledell "Dell" Jenkins Jr., 59, passed away Monday, Aug. 23, 2021, at Atrium Health in Pineville.
He was born Aug. 16, 1962, in Lancaster, the son of the late James Ledell "Jimmy" Jenkins Sr. and Becky Rollins Jenkins, and was the husband of Teresa Luckadoo Jenkins. Dell was the owner and operator of the Shrimp Boat of Lancaster. He loved baseball and started playing T-ball and played baseball through high school. He was a great pitcher. For several years in the '90s, Dell coached or assisted coaches for several ball teams, including the Springs Memorial Hospital team. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, golf, gardening and watching his hummingbirds. When hunting, his favorite thing to do was watch the deer grow from year to year. He also loved antiques, hot rods and building cars, and was just an amazing man. Dell could do anything and was a jack-of-all-trades. He managed multiple restaurants and mentored many of his employees. He was an avid Clemson and Duke fan. Dell loved his family, and his grandchildren were his life. He loved to go to the beach and the mountains and also loved his dogs. Dell was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Dell is survived by his wife, Teresa Jenkins; a son, Jimmy Jenkins (Cassie); a son preceding him in death, Chris Jenkins; a daughter, Jessica J. Terry (Jared); the mother of Chris's children, Hannah Bowers; six grandchildren, Jacob Scott, Addison Jenkins, Ayden Jenkins, Emily Terry, Caylee Jenkins and Lee Terry; a sister, Joy Jenkins Funderburk; two sisters-in-law, Pamela Koestner and Tammy Aimone (John); and a brother-in-law, Rick Luckadoo; a godson, Matt Pruitt; and many nieces and nephews. Dell had two very dedicated and special employees that he and his family loved, Bobby Tucker and Angela Truesdale. Dell was also preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Becky Jenkins, as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.
A celebration of life service for Dell will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at Antioch Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Trent McLaughlin. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
