Mary Ella Jordan

1928 - 2021

LANCASTER - Mary Ella Fudge Jordan, 93, of Lancaster passed away Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, in Rock Hill.

She was born July 15, 1928, in Rock Hill, a daughter of the late David Clyde Fudge and Martha Ella Simpson Fudge. She was the wife of the late James Melvin Jordan Sr.

At a young age, Mrs. Jordan left Rock Hill and moved to the Edgemoor community. She attended Edgemoor schools and Winthrop Training School. She was employed for 33 years with Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Co. Mrs. Jordan served as a substitute schoolteacher. She was a member of the Woodmen of the World and Neely's Creek ARP Church and First ARP Church of Lancaster, where she served in many different ways, including Sunday school teacher, choir member, Women's Ministry and made communion bread for over 45 years.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Jordan was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at First ARP Church, with the Rev. Dr. Kyle Sims officiating. Burial was in the Neely's Creek ARP Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Jordan is survived by three sisters, Martha Wylie Clawson of McConnells, Helen (Gene) Jordan and Annie (Charles) Montgomery of Edgemoor; a stepdaughter, Victoria (Charlie) Hipp; three stepsons, Bryan (Karola) Jordan, Neil Jordan and James Jordan Jr.; nine step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews that she thought of like her own, Brad (Renea) Jordan, Lynda (Mark) Caskey, Jackie (Russell) Davis, Gene Jr. (Michelle) Jordan, Lynn (Scott) Moore, David (Heather) Montgomery, Susan (Sam) Prete and Derek Montgomery; 20 great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Jordan Howard; and her brothers-in-law, Jack Jordan, Bobby Howard and Todd Clawson.

The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at First ARP Church of Lancaster.
