Michael W. "Mike" Anderson

1944 - 2021

LANCASTER – Michael "Mike" W. Anderson, 76, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021, at Atrium Hospital in Pineville, N.C.
He was born March 12, 1944, in Lancaster, a son of the late Peggy Clough Plyler and Harry Baker Plyler.
Mike attended All For One Church. Mike was an avid fisherman, learning how to fish from his father Harry and his four uncles of the Clough family. Mike was still fishing in April of 2020, catching close to 90 fish with his son, Michael. He rigged his last line for his grandsons in November of 2020. Mike was a faithful NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching any football and baseball game. He particularly loved to travel to see his grandson play baseball.
A service to celebrate his life was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, in the chapel of the Burgess Funeral Home with his son, the Rev. Michael Anderson, officiating. Burial followed at Lancaster Memorial Park.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his two daughters, Wendy Anderson of Charleston and Crystal Perry (Jason) of Charleston; son, Michael Anderson of Lancaster; two sisters, Margaret P. Rhoad (Gene) of Myrtle Beach and Carol P. Cauthen (Randy) of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Brandon McWaters, Hayden Perry and Harrison Perry; and the mother of his children and former wife of 32 years, Linda Anderson of Lancaster.
Mr. Anderson is preceded in death by his parents; his biological father, James W. Anderson, who was killed in action in World War II; a brother, David G. Plyler; and a daughter, Sherry Anderson McWaters.
The family received friends following the burial service.
