Sanford Hendryx Obituary

LANCASTER – Mr. Sanford "Sandy" Hendryx, 83, of Lancaster passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
He was born Sept. 10, 1932, in Austin, Minn., a son of the late Glenn Samuel and Lucille Cole Hendryx. Mr. Hendryx was a U.S. Navy Korean War Veteran, and member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Hendryx will be held at 3 p.m. today, Sept. 7, at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Anderson and the Rev. Dr. Harold Owens officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.
Mr. Hendryx is survived by his wife, sweetheart, lover and very best friend of 60 years, Mary Ellen Hendryx; his three children, Deborah H. Allen, Steven Hendryx Sr. (Cindy) and Janet Hendryx (Al); his seven grandchildren, Melani McNeilly (Chris), Al Brown IV, Beth Allen (Tristan), Niki McBroom (Chris), Michael Hendryx, Steven Hendryx Jr. (Raegan) and Luk Hendryx; six great-grandchildren, Arwen McNeilly, Sebastian Boyd, Finn McNeilly, Landon Hickson, Brinley Hickson and Ansley Hickson; a number of nieces and nephews in Minnesota; and close family friends, John Trull, Gail Hyatt and Gary and Carrie Helms.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Lancaster Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Steven Hendryx, 2545 Cambridge Drive, Lancaster.
