Timothy Smith Obituary

Timothy Quay Smith, 62, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018.
He was born Jan. 28, 1956, in Spencer, N.C. He was the son of Jane and Quay Smith and grew up in Belmont, N.C.
He graduated from Winthrop College. Tim assumed the position as parish musician at Christ Episcopal Church in 2006. He served as director of music/organist for churches in Lowell, N.C., Chester, Orangeburg, Columbia and Lancaster.
Tim was a gifted musician, playing both the piano and organ, in addition to singing. His passion for tuning organs and performing for others allowed him to enjoy life to the fullest and brought joy to those who heard him. He was involved in many community musical events, especially with the American Guild of Organists.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Tamereh Renee Smith.
He is survived by his sister Nancy Wilson (Richard) of New Bern, N.C., and his stepchildren LaQuisha, Gerald, Andrew, and Reginald Hingleton, all of Lancaster. He is also survived by his nephew, Sam Wilson, and niece, Katy Wilson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, at Christ Episcopal Church in Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to his beloved church, Christ Episcopal Church, PO Box 488, Lancaster, SC 29721.
South Carolina Cremation Society is assisting the family.
