Clarksville - Jimmy Settle, 58, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018, at St. Thomas Midtown.

Jimmy was born on December 6, 1959, in Clarksville, TN to James Roy Settle and Frances Mathis Settle.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. at Hilldale Baptist Church. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home.

Jimmy was a land developer and Realtor of both land and commercial properties with Century 21 Platinum Properties. He was known as "The Land Man". He was serving as the 2018 National President of Realtors Land Institute (RLI) and an Accredited Land Consultant (ALC). He was a 1977 graduate of Northwest High School and 1987 graduate of Austin Peay State University, where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity and received his Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed sharing the outdoors with family and friends. He was an avid hunter, reader, and Auburn Football Fan. He gained his love for the land while spending time on family farms. He loved his lab and companion, Gunter. He was a faithful and devoted follower of Jesus.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Douglas and Rene Mathis and paternal grandparents, Curtis and Macey Settle.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy is survived by his wife, Gail Settle of Clarksville, TN; three daughters, Jamie Settle (Ian) Michel of Roswell, GA, Mandi (Jason) Hampton, and Melissa McCullah Long of Clarksville, TN; brother, Roy (Amy) Settle of Kingsport, TN; two nephews, Douglas Settle and Brandon Settle; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Winningham, Thom Spigner, Dennis Ziolkowski, Bob Turner, Wade Hadley, Jeff Anderson, David Young, Kent Griffy, Kevin Brown, and Freddie Bowles. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Realtors Land Institute and Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity Brothers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Melanoma Research Foundation, c/o P.O. Box 3925, Clarksville, TN 37043, Young Life North Fulton, P.O. Box 619, Alpharetta, GA 30009, or Young Life Clarksville, P.O. Box 462, Clarksville, TN 37041.

I remember Jimmy as a student at New Providence Jr. High many years ago. He was a fine young man and I was sad to read of his death. I pray that God will give his family the peace that only He can.

20 or so years ago, I got to meet Jimmy. It was through my big sister and "The Lunch Bunch" gang that I got to know him at Texas East. This was at the beginning of Jimmy and Gail. Such a sweet man and you could see how happy the two were together and how much Gail sparkled. Last time I saw them together that sparkle was still there. It was meant to be! That spark will go on forever and they will be together again someday.
Gail you are in my families thoughts and prayers and you are loved. Let the old Lunch Bunch gang embrace you and give you comfort during this time.
Remember all the good times.

Although I only recently met Jimmy, he became a trusted friend sharing time, lunch, a few stories and lots of promises to spend future days together. Unfortunately, this will not come to pass...I shall miss you my friend and will always remember your gentle nature and true kindness.
