Funeral service for U.S. Army (Ret.) MSG Scott Alan Means, age 62 of Palmyra, will be February 22, 2017 at 12:00 NOON at Sykes Funeral Home. David Mackens will officiate. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans West Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home, and again on Wednesday, from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon.
Scott passed away on Friday, Feb 17, 2017 at Alive Hospice - St. Thomas. He was born on Feb 23, 1954 in Indianapolis, IN to Harold and Florence Means.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers; Ray Means and Zeke Means. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shirley Means, sons; Jeremy (Allison) Means and Jason Means, daughter, Amanda Means, brothers, Mark Means and Bernard Means, sisters, Cathy Means, Dawn Means, and Toni Means, grandchildren; Jorden Means, Addison Means, and Brock Allen, Aunt, Christine Means, and cousin, Wade Means.
Scott was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was retired out of the United States Army where he was a member of the 5th Group Special Forces at Ft. Campbell. He received multiple awards and medals during his service, including the Bronze Star Medal. After his retirement he was employed at the Clarksville Gas and Water Department for 15 years.
