Adonis Dedes Obituary
Skate World
LAKELAND - Born September 2, 1949 in Agistri, Greece; Died May 14, 2007 in Lakeland of Cancer.
He served in the Greek Navy for 2 years. In 1977, He moved to Lakeland and became the owner and operator of Skate World, where he has brought joy to generations of families. He was an associate member of First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by 1 daughter, Chanel Antoinette Dedes, Lakeland, 1 son, John Adonis Dedes, Ft. Lauderdale, 1 sister, Kalliopi Bertolis, Spata, Greece, 2 brothers, Konstandinos Dedes, Lakeland, Elias Dedes, Agistri, Greece. Adonis will forever be remembered as a strong, caring, and loving man.
Services will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2:00PM, First United Methodist Church Sanctuary. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 809 S. Florida Avenue, Lakeland, FL. 33801

It has been one year since the passing of my father. I just wish to thank everyone for your continued support to my family. We all miss dad dearly but we just have to keep him alive in our hearts and minds. God Bless

It's been almost a year and yet it still feels like yesterday. Adonis would be so humbled and so proud. To Chanel, although your father could not be there to walk you down the isle he was there in spirit smiling down and thinking "wow" "look at that beautiful woman", Chanel he would be so proud of you and everything you have done. Adonis's memory will live on forever in our hearts and in the faces of his children.

Adonis was a sweet and caring man. I wish I would of saw him more. I will miss him so much. He was there for me when my father passed in 04'. I will miss playing darts with him. He will forever be in my heart and will always be "the greek" in darts!!

To the family:
Your father was a great man and an excellent teacher. Every time I saw him he would ask how my new family was treating me and always offer a bit of advice. Adonis always had a unique way of saying everyone's name. There should be a shrine dedicated to him!

You were my mentor, my uncle, and my best friend. You were there the day I was born, the day I left for Iraq, till the day I got back. I will miss our visits every week, so that I knew you were doing alright or the conversations we had and the drinks we shared. I love you and will be waiting till the day we walk together again.

You were a great guy, a great friend, and an awesome neighbor. You will be missed terribly! I will never forget how you taught me how to play darts and always gave me a hard time because I could never hit a bulls eye even when you let me use your good darts. So many wonderful childhood memories were created behind the doors of Skateworld in the 80's. Adonis was babysitter to a great number of kids who pretty much lived at Skateworld on the weekends. Thank you, Adonis, for creating an environment where we could socialize and be safe. Thanks for the memories.

Chanel and Family - My wonderful memories of Adonis are linked to my four years of college at Florida Southern, where I knew Adonis first from Greco's and then Chanel when she joined ADPI. What a treat to learn that two people I cared about were related! Adonis was always laughing and happy, traits which I hope I emulate. May we all learn from his positive outlook.

Adonis will be sadly missed. He always brought smiles to everyone around him. As the bus driver for Girls Inc in Winter Haven I would always laugh and joke with him everytime we saw each other. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time. I will miss him so much!
