ALBERT E. SPAETH, 86

PALM HARBOR, FL. - Albert E. Spaeth, 86, passed away surrounded by his loving family April 26, 2018, at Mease Countryside Hospital.
Born in Somers Point, New Jersey August 30th, 1931, he moved to St. Petersburg, Florida with his family in 1933. He attended St. Petersburg High School and served aboard a US Navy Submarine from 1950 to 1954. He married his high school sweetheart Marilyn J. Kliefoth in 1952, in St. Petersburg, Florida. They moved right after their marriage to Miami, Florida where Al started college and a job with the Miami Herald. He shortly after started his career with the Prudential Insurance Company until his retirement in 1992, after 36 years of service. He moved to Lakeland, Florida with his family in 1964 to further continue his career with Prudential. Albert was a licensed CLU and had his own agency in Lakeland. He was very active in the community civic groups to include Rotary and the YMCA. He was an avid runner and worked out daily until three months prior to his passing. He and his wife Marilyn were active in the Catholic Church and instilled that in their children's upbringing.
He loved the water and was always boating, fishing and sailing. He held his Captain's license for many years. He and Marilyn loved to travel and went to many different countries and places.
Albert and Marilyn moved to New Port Richey in 2003, to be closer to their grandchildren and the water. Albert is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marilyn, Palm Harbor, Florida; his three sons: Alan, daughter-in-law Berit, Lakeland, Richard and Alise, Dawsonville, GA, Edward, daughter-in-law Lisa, New Port Richey; his brother Robert Spaeth, Maderia Beach, Florida; nine grandchildren: Wendy Pinto (Ohio), Kendall Campion (Lakeland), Nick Spaeth (Lakeland), Alex Spaeth passed away 2007 (Lakeland, Haley Spaeth, Dylan Spaeth and Sarah Spaeth, all of New Port Richey, Derrick Bavol (Tampa), Christopher Spaeth (Pompano Beach), Robert Gest (Lakeland); three great grandchildren: Sofia and Francisco Pinto (Ohio) and Alexander Campion (Lakeland).
He was always there for and in the hearts of his nephews and nieces:Toni Hafner, Stacey Moschetti, Lisa Anderson, Andrew Spaeth (daughter Jaidyn), Brian Spaeth (daughter Oakleigh).

On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans (USSVI), I offer our sincere condolences on Albert's passing. You and your loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers. We are forever grateful for Albert's service to our country in the U.S. Submarine Service. To our Brother we say, Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. May you rest in peace and may God bless your loved ones who remain. Thank you for your service to our country.
