BEVERLY SALOMON Obituary

BEVERLY JOYCE MEIER SALOMON, 81

WINTER HAVEN - Beverly Joyce Meier Salomon, best known as Joyce was 81 years young. She lived the dream of wintering in Winter Haven, Florida and summering in Land Harbour, Newland, North Carolina. She was born on March 27, 1931, and was unexpectedly called home to heaven while in the North Carolina Mountains on October 14, 2012, after having a heart attack.
Parents HJ and Goldie Meier raised Joyce in Ashkum, Illinois, with siblings Wayne, Marvin, and Eleanor. Joyce married Robert "Bob" Salomon on March 11, 1951. They left Illinois with their children to become the proud owners of the Lake Roy Motor Lodge in Winter Haven, Florida, in 1966 until their retirement at the ripe old ages of 57 and 54. After leaving the hotel business, they chose to make the mountains of North Carolina their second home. The family grew with each Land Harbour friend they made. Spending time with family was always a priority for Bob and Joyce from welcoming newborns home to enjoying holidays and birthdays with everyone. They had a passion for RV'ing across the country, appreciating Americana, visiting golf courses, and little known historical sites. It was always Happy Hour at their 19th hole.
Joyce is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren: Mark (Jorie) Salomon, Jennifer (Greg) Sack, their children Branson, and Callan. Cynthia (Steve) Weclew, their children David and Katelyn. Ann Salomon-Collins, J.C. (Ashley) Collins, Robbie (Molly) Collins, and Winston Collins. Jill (Thomas) Smith, Emily Smith and Sam Smith. Drs. Brad (Kim) Salomon, Katie Salomon, Carly Salomon, and Gary Salomon. Her cousins J. Roderick (Cheryl) Jarrett, and Ronnie (Erma) Howell. Adopted daughters: Lucinda (Mark) Redenius, and sons Adam and Drew. Nancy (Kevin) Theesfeld, and sons Jake and Luke. Meier nieces and nephews, Weir nieces and nephews, Lehman niece and nephew. Close friends in Florida and North Carolina, and longtime feline companion, Miss Kitty.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband of fifty four years, Bob Salomon, parents HJ and Goldie Meier, and brothers Wayne and Marvin Meier. She is survived by her sister Eleanor Weir and sisters-in-law, Elsie Meier and Maxine Lehman.
A graveside service for family members will be held on October 19th with a celebration of Joyce's life welcome to all at the home of Drs. Brad and Kim Salomon on Friday, October 19th at 5:30 PM. The address is 119 East Lake Summit Drive, Winter Haven, FL 33884.
In lieu of flowers, as a breast cancer survivor and animal lover, Joyce would have appreciated donations to the American Cancer Society or Avery County Humane Society in Newland, North Carolina.
Lover of family first and fun second, Joyce has made the final journey to her beloved mountains and lived her life by a favorite saying, "AND IN THE END IT'S NOT THE YEARS IN YOUR LIFE THAT COUNT. IT'S THE LIFE IN YOUR YEARS." GOD BLESS YOUR SOUL MOM.

Dear Mark, Ann, Jill and Brad and family members,
My deepest condolences to all of you. I consider myself fortunate to have known both your father and mother and will always remember them fondly. Words are difficult to express during this sad time but may you find comfort in knowing that your mother definitely lived life to its fullest as was her dream and she raised a wonderful family. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you mourn and as you celebrate your dear mother's life
Love,
