LAKE WALES - On May 15, 2012, Blake "Blakey" Cooper Appleton, left this world to
celebrate eternal life with the Lord. Blake led a valiant fight with cancer. He passed away at his home in Lake Wales surrounded by loved ones.
Blake was born on February 3, 2003 in Brandon, Florida; he came to Lake Wales at the age of two. For those of you who did not know Blake Appleton,
he was a true inspiration to a lot of people all over the world and in his community. His favorite color was red; he loved red gummy bears and drinking Publix sweet tea. He also loved going to Lorraine's Place for his Blakey hotdog. Blake got to accomplish a lot of things in his life before he passed.
These are some of the things he was able to accomplish: Lucas Boyce of the Orlando Magic, got the family courtside seats against the New Jersey Nets on Dec. 29, 2011. The highlight was an after-game meeting with Dwight Howard and Ryan Johnson outside the locker room, with the big man coming out to
meet Blake shirtless with a towel draped around his neck.
The next morning, they were off to Denver for an all-expenses paid trip that included tickets to the final regular-season home game for the Denver Broncos, against the Kansas City Chiefs. After Denver Police officers volunteered to escort Blake to Mile High Stadium, the family stepped onto the field during the pre-game activities when Tebow dropped by. Tim Tebow called Blake in early December, but nothing compared to this. Blake had always idolized Tebow because he and his family are Florida Gators fans. During one round of chemo treatments, when he went to Shand's Teaching Hospital in Gainesville, Blake actually beamed "I am going to Tebow country!"
He traveled to New York City where he got to spend time with the NYFD were he met the firefighters of Engine 54 Ladder 4 and Engine 10 Ladder 10, the first to respond to 911. He rode in one of the fire trucks to the World Trade Center Mural of 911. He beamed inside that truck as he honked the horn and turned the lights on. He loved firefighters because they are so courageous.
He also met Amar'e Stoudemire and Jr. Smith of the NY Knicks and was the recipient of the Care 2 Tri Award. Blake was a Miles for Hope ambassador, City of Lake Wales Key Holder, Junior Firefighter, Honorary Deputy Sheriff, member of the PCSO Swat Team, and K-9 Units, a deep sea fisherman, and on April 27, 2012, he received the Polk Avenue Elementary School's "Leader of Courage Award".
Blake Appleton will be missed by all. He touched the lives and hearts of so many people around this community and around the world. He leaves a legacy of hope, faith, courage and love. As we go on with our everyday lives, we will NEVER forget Blake Appleton, with that smile bigger than the moon and brighter than the sun.
Blake is survived by his mother, Miranda Joe Appleton; his father, Jason Earl Appleton; his big sister, Morgan Michelle Appleton; his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and lots of friends that loved him.
Blake's Memorial Service is open to all of his family and friends on Saturday, May 26th at 4:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, 338 East Central Avenue, Lake Wales, FL 33853. For Blake's celebration of life, please wear BRIGHT colors.
Any donations in memory of Blake Appleton can be made to the Arnold Palmer Hospital and to any other charity of your choice.

My Name is Ashley. I really never met Blakey or his family. I only knew him when I seen him on tv about to meet Tim Tebow. I am a huge fan of Tim Tebow and the Florida Gators. Since I had my brain surgery at Shands in Gainesville. That changed my life forever. But I can say now that I will forever be a big fan of Blake. To the Appleton Family:
We had the pleausre of getting to meet Blake when we played in a charity baseball tournment in Lake Wales that was for him. My son was so admired to be asked for him and his team to be able to be part of something so special. They were all proud to be able to play for Blake those two days. He is truley a inspiration to so many including the kids that day who played. It was amazing to see him out there on the field to throw that first pitch that day. As a family that was just recently hit with a tragdey as well as to losing our little Brady, we just wanted to let you know that our thoughts and prayers our with you and all your family and friends at this most precious time. Please know that Blake was a very special little boy and touched so many lives to people that he knew and didn't know. Just remember as we do that he is in the arms of Jesus. If there is one thing that we know for sure is that Blake was loved by so many people and touch some many hearts. We are really sorry for your loss and always remember our thoughts and prayers are with you. Blake, I hope that you meet up with Brady and you guys give them a great baseball game up there.

Blake, I will never forget the day you helped pick up leaves in my yard and as you giggled when you ran and jumped on the pile of leaves making me laugh. We had a great morning together. Picking up leaves will never be the same. I will forever carry you in my heart. You are soaring so high right now with all the angels in heaven. I will always hear your giggles and see your smile as I collect the leaves in my yard. Thank you for teaching me to be courageous. Miranda & Morgan,
I first met you at the Blake Appleton Ride for Life, from that day on I just could not stop thinking about Blakey, You and Morgan. I thought how Brave this little boy is and how he just smiled and played at each stop with Morgan and Little Man. Running around laughing and livin life knowing that this could be his last. I thought to myself WoW how could anything in my life compare to what your family was going through. I had nothing to complain about. Then we did another ride to come and see you, Morgan and Blakey bringing a sign,Gummie Bears, and stuffed animals and our Love and quarter's of course, not knowing how Blake was feeling. I am so glad that I was able to see him and whisper to him How he was Mr. Awesome and such a brave Child and will always be in my heart. That I Loved Him, You and Morgan. I believe in my Heart I knew that would be the last time I saw him. But we know now that he hurts no more his pain is gone. He is with God.

I got to meet Blakey while at Sea World one day, He had the biggest smile from ear to ear on his little face as he petted the sting rays, what a GREAT KID he was he inspired alot of people, Kids have learn alot from Blakey and I as well, Thank you Blakey you are a HERO, fly little angel sor with the wings you have earned, you will be loved forever, you will also be missed by many.

At first I thought there was no way i could attend Blake's memorial service, but then I remembered how brave and courageous Blake was and still is. Blake Cooper Appleton was such a joy to be around ,I remember the first time I met him and he was just giggling away . I remember when he was in his car with a glowing mouth piece and wanted me to take pictures of him. Then we went to all stars and all he wanted was a toy from the claw machine and was determined to get it and was smiling the whole time . I grew to know Blake and truley do love him . I cannot begin to imagine the pain that you are in losing a son/brother. Blakey was such a loving and joyous child even when he didn't feel good. I will never forget his smile. ? Just remember when the sun is shining, he is smiling. When it is thundering, he is running and playing, and when it's raining, he is showering us with his love. Miranda and Jason stay strong for Morgan! I am glad to know I have great memories of Blakey having fun and playing. He was awesome at tag, he beat me every time. His courage such as I have only seen in men during combat... His smile the most infectious I have ever seen... His love of life unequalled... Morgan, you are just as strong and courageous as well as protective of Blake... Miranda, you are by far one of the best and strongest mothers I know... Throughout this entire ordeal the three of you stuck together against all odds... Blake will be remembered for his smile, for the way he endured all the treatments and surgery's and kept smiling... and for his humility... I will never forget seeing him on Fox35 saying all he wanted for Christmas were "some Lego's and a call from tim tebow"... yes, he got those and much more... no one is more deserving than he... He will always be an inspiration and role model for those children who will also have to endure the trauma's of their illness's...

As you once heard me say " Nothing will bring a big bad biker to his knees faster than the smile of a child"... Your son Blake did just that! HOOYAH!!! On the wings of a snow white dove he sends his pure sweet love a sign from above on the wings if a dove... as you fly through the heavenly skies your friends and family depend on you to watch over them and keep them safe. Yourbright little face touched so many hearts .... you know how many loved you & wished you pain free not realizing God would have you for himself now.
My heart felt prayers extended for friends and family of Blake..I didn't personally know him but with the number of post each day it was as if I did... God speed & a new heavenly Angel

To Little Blake's family. I am soo sorry for your loss. I hope you find peace in your time of sorrow.
