AUBURNDALE - Carolyn Combee, 86, died peacefully at home in Auburndale, Florida, on Monday, June 5, 2017.
Born in Evanston, Illinois, Carolyn moved to Winter Haven in 1942. She married her high school sweetheart James W. Combee, Jr., on Sept. 14, 1951. They resided in Winter Haven for the next 40 years until their move in 1991 to Lake Arietta in Auburndale.
Predeceased by her husband James and granddaughter Lisa, Carolyn is survived by her four children: Catherine Combee, Lake Wales, James W. Combee, III (Betty), Tampa, Richard Combee (Mary), Winter Haven, and Bruce Combee (Ann), Winter Haven. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Jamie Novaes (Diego), Kaley Tidwell (Jeremy), Madison Combee, Charles Combee, Matthew Simpson (Tara), and Amy Dunn, in addition to five great-grandchildren.
Carolyn worked at Florida Southern Abstract and Title Company, Winter Haven, retiring in 1989. She also helped with the family business Combee Airboats, Lake Hamilton. Carolyn will be remembered as a kind and generous person who loved and cared for her family. She especially enjoyed celebrating holidays with cards, presents, family get-togethers, and good food. Carolyn loved living on the lake, watching the wildlife, and doing word searches and jigsaw puzzles.
The family would like to give special thanks to all the caregivers who served their mother with dedication and love. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 9, 1:00 p.m., at Steele's Family Funeral Service, 207 Burns Lane, SE, Winter Haven.
