Mrs DiCcco,
I was so sorry to learn of Dan's passing in the summer edition of IUP Magazine. I knew Dan via my uncle, Charles Davis, who was a colleaugue of his in the IUP music departmnet for many years. Our sympathy to you and the rest of Dan's family.

Mrs. DiCicco,
I was a student of "Doc" in the late 1970's, before finally settling on Music History as a Major at IUP. I just became aware of his passing this past week (March 25th, to be exact). While I no longer play (due to physical and mental issues), I do remember the performances under him in both the IUP Symphony Band and the IUP Wind Ensemble. To quote from the entrance antiphon for Evangelical Lutheran Worship:
Eternal God, maker of heaven and earth, who formed us from the dust of the earth, who by your breath gave us life, we glorify you.
Jesus Christ, the resurrection and the life, who suffered death for all humanity, who rose from the grave to open the way to eternal life, we praise you.
Holy Spirit, author and giver of life, the comforter of all who sorrow, our sure confidence and everlasting hope, we worship you.
To you, O blessed + Trinity, be glory and honor, forever and ever.
Amen.

Virginia I am so sorry for your loss. Dan was a wonderful guy (and a great cook!) and he leaves you the blessing of wonderful memories and times you shared (remember the homemade pasta dinner when the lights went out??).
Know your 'work' family is with you during this time - we love you.
